Mathematical Problem Solving
Dear Upstate New York Math Team,
We have a Saturday math talk and a Sunday math training this weekend. Join us for both! Professor Xiadong Cao presents the second part of his talk on Complex Numbers this Saturday (tomorrow) at 9am, and Coach Villani runs Practice #3 on Sunday at 9am. Please read below for Zoom details.
Our ARML Team application process continues. The American Regions Math League involves travel to State College, Pennsylvania on May 30 and 31. It’s a great event; and a unique chance for top high school math students from across the state to gather and compete together as a team.

Description: Students work together on a team event practice, then debrief solutions. Teamwork is a challenge to develop, and the math problems don’t give up easily, either.

We are adding Upstate talks and trainings, so please keep your Sundays, 9-10am free and some Saturdays. Some events may be announced very close to the date.
Reminder: Please get ahold of a copy of Paul Zeitz’s Art and Craft of Problem Solving book, which we will use as a common text this year.
