Dear ,
We came, we saw, we conquered!
Well, that’s not exactly what happened. But for the first time in almost a decade, the Upstate New York Math Team met in person and participated in ARML.
“The key here is to build a camaraderie among the students so that they do what ARML intended -- make meaningful in-person connections while doing significant mathematics.” -- George Reuter, former lead coach of the Upstate New York Math Team, current President of NYSML, and Vice President of ARML.
With the option of gathering in person at a remote site, we traveled to Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and competed from Malott Hall, the Cornell math department building.
Contest results: The Upstate New York Math Team earned 146 points total, which placed us 4th place among Off-site Division B teams. Great showing! The results summary is available here.
Future Plans: We look forward to participating in ARML, the American Regions Mathematics League competition, at the end of each school year. Would you like to join in on the discussion to clarify, embellish, visualize, and fulfill the 2022–2023 plans? Please get in touch!
Sincerely,
Japheth
