NYSML, ARML Local, ARML, and our Next Coaching Session
Upstate New York Math Team community,
Last month we launched our first live coaching session and the response was amazing. If we keep getting such high attendance, we're going to have to get more coaches! It was really great to get to meet everyone and we very much hope to see some activity on our discord server.
If you haven't joined the server yet, click the link below to sign up. Thank you to everyone that participated. We hope to see you again at 7:00pm, April 15th for our second session, only two days before NYSML on April 17th.
Please note: To abide by the Discord Terms of Service (https://discord.com/terms), membership on the server is restricted to those 13 years old and older, and in all cases will require parental consent. If you are under 13 years of age, we can invite your parent or guardian to the server instead.
Speaking of NYSML, we hope that many of our participants (and perhaps more?) will join us for other team-based math contests. ARML Local, the American Regional Math League Local competition, takes place on April 24th and 25th. This competition involves teams of six with each team signed up under the name of its proctor.
After ARML Local, we have ARML itself. This year, the competition is completely virtual and takes place on June 5th. Registration for that competition doesn't open until May 5th. We'll keep you posted.
If you are want to participate in NYSML, ARML Local, or ARML and don’t have a team or a proctor, let us know! We will be organizing teams for a variety of contests on our discord server from our eligible members.
To participate in competitions as a part of the Upstate New York Math Team, please contact us either by email or on the discord server in the #events channel. Applications for ARML local are approaching, so please let us know by April 16th if you hope to participate.
Finally, the Upstate New York Math Team is also looking for volunteers. Parents, team coaches, and math teachers from around the state are encouraged to reply directly to this email. Whether as volunteers, future collaborators, or as new additions to our dedicated team, the Upstate New York Math Team is looking to connect on the ground educators and parents and continue to grow this wonderful network.
Best regards,
Matt
