Welcome to May! We've slowed down the newsletter schedule by combining our April and May issues, and will post once more before taking a break for the summer, with solutions to the new practice problems. We're all wishing for a safe re-opening from the COVID-19 pandemic, and that we'll be able to travel to ARML at the end of May 2021.
In the meantime, we have two initiatives. First, there is still ARML Local, and second, building up the team infrastructure. We'd love for you to be involved!
As always, a huge thanks to the Problem Squad. Their challenges keep us up at night, and each problem we solve (or don't manage to solve) is a step towards deeper mathematical understanding.

We have received several applications to join the Upstate New York Math Team, enough to send a team or two to ARML Local at the end of May. If you participated in the Purple Comet Math Meet this year, you are a few steps ahead on the learning curve to work as an online team. That's what ARML Local will be like–collaborating our efforts online in teams of six students, and solving challenging math problems together. This year, ARML Local will be free of charge.

Incorporate the Upstate New York Math Team as a nonprofit entity to ensure its existence into the future.
Join the Problem Squad and prepare monthly practice problem sets for 2020–2021.
Help prepare and edit this newsletter.
Make a website for the Upstate New York Math Team.
Help plan out our ARML 2021 trip.
Design a team logo!
